We asked for a nonsmoking room and got a smoking room that was changed into a nonsmoking room. Unfortunately, the smell was not taken out of the room and it stunk. The stench got into all of our clothes, bags, jackets, pillows and shoes. The staff are fairly nonchalant and don't seem to be paying attention or listening to the guests. The breakfast was simple but good. 3 cereals, instant oatmeal, Belgian waffle, scrambled eggs (mix), either bacon or sausage but not both, toast, bagel , prepackaged small muffins, milk, orange juice, Apple juice and coffee. Older hotel that shows the years of use and lack of good maintenance.
Hotel was clean. 2 queens in our room and plenty of space. Took awhile to check in since they were training someone which was a little frustrating with kids (the manager pulled up our reservation and handed it over, then checked the next guest in completely). Very nice property. Pool is great, maybe a little chilly. Breakfast included juices, coffee, milks, toast, cereal, muffins and pastries, eggs, bacon, waffles with syrup and strawberries. Great location just off the freeway. Nice patio on the back with some vegetation to block the freeway. It was taken up with a big party the night we were there. Would stay again when in the area.
Checked in after a long day of flying, planning on staying the night and leaving for home in the morning. The guy at the front desk gives us a key, but then says to hold on and that he needs to check something in the room and takes the keys back and runs upstairs to the room. He was gone for a while and then we see him come back down trying to hide a suitcase in a cart. I ask the guy if there was somebody else staying in the room and he says no and that he just needed to check if there were towels in the room. So we get the keys back and head up to the room. There were dirty cowboy boots with socks in them sitting right in the middle of the floor and a bunch of personal soaps and shower products in the shower and bathroom. So not only was the room uncleaned but the desk clerk was obviously aware of it, ran upstairs to get the bag out that belonged to a person who presumably shouldn't have been staying there, and then attempted to send up there to sleep in that. I asked for a refund for the night and told him we would rather drive through the night then stay there after that. He refused the refund and said that other then the boots and shower products the room was clean so it's not a big deal. Absolutely ridiculous.
Famiy came in from Texas and ended up staying at this AmericInn. We had rented space for a family Christmas, but my 6-year old grandson broke his rib sledding on Sunday. He was unable to tolerate the 40-minute drive to the rental site. The hotel came to the rescue. They allowed us to use the lobby for our gathering, since all conference rooms were in use. The fireplace was a beautiful enhancement to our gathering. Staff was very friendly and helpful.
Comfortable, affordable rooms, and a good breakfast (including eggs, sausages, and oatmeal, not just waffles, toast, and cereal). It is non-smoking, but unfortunately there were a couple places in the hall that smelled like cigarette smoke, as did the elevator.
On a personal note, I have never been at an AmericInn that I disliked. When I traveled for work, it was always my first choice. The service is wonderful, the layouts are efficient, and there's always someone able to help you solve dilemmas. The rooms are clean. The biildings are usually quiet. Things are just very well run in general.
